“Restart a Heart Day” is an annual International day to promote awareness of sudden cardiac arrest (SCA)
The success rate of CPR and early Defibrillation is important to here at International Paramedic College. Effective CPR and a shock from a defibrillator can make all the difference in a cardiac event.

A Defib Is Simple To Use
You don’t need any training to use an AED simply turn them on and follow the prompts. It si that easy. Training will help take away your fear and apprehension and the Australian Resuscitation Council says it helps with pad placement and can importantly reduce the time to first shock.
Where should we put an AED? Easy Accessable Highly Visable Locations
AED locations must be highly visible to the public or employees and should be located ideally to have a 3 minute response time.
Simply saying there is one at the shopping centre is not very helpful when time is important in survivability.
AED Locations should take account of
- response time
- rate of incidence
- Volume of employees/customers/visitors
- The nature of the risk where you are
CPR Training helps
Many businesses and schools encourage or run on-site CPR AED training their employees to receive CPR/AED training so they are prepared to administer appropriate action in the event of a workplace emergency. According to a new study published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, individuals working long hours are 67% more likely to suffer from a heart attack during their lifetime.
