Multitask Lismore is a Heart Safe Work Place with Defibrillators or AEDs on-site

Martin Byrne, the Work Health and Safety and Quality Coordinator and the the team at Multitask Lismore  have become a “heart safe workplace” by setting up a number of AED’s in their facilities and AED and Defibrillator awareness training from the team here at  International Paramedic College Australia.  We believe that learning how to use a defibrillator is just as important as buying an AED, it takes the fear out of using it and training and understanding how an AED works helps reduce the all important “time to first shock” which we believe is one of the “7 reasons every workplace should buy an AED”.For every minute that defibrillation is delayed their is a 10% reduction in survival

Multitask have been around since 1952 locally, empowering people with disabilities to live rich and meaningful lives. They are an NDIS provider and deliver high quality, professional and flexible disability support services like accommodation, respite and employment services and community participation programs In Lismore, Ballina, Grafton, Casino, Kempsey and Tamworth. Multitask has also supported many people people move out of home, find work, study, pursue a range of lifestyle and leisure goals and even purchase their own homes. They even have a Soap gift basket or a range of soaps you could get for yourself or for someone you know and proceeds from sales go towards the training and ongoing employment of people with disabilities. We did a local training session with the team at Multitask Lismore where we demonstrated what an AED is, and how to use the Lifepak CR2 in an emergency. It does not replace CPR or first aid training but it does show the team at Multitask Lismore how to use the Lifepak CR2 fully Automatic AED we recommended to them.We used the specific training unit for the Lifepak AED. They wanted an AED for their workplace that was easy to use, that you needed only one set of pads, not adult and child pads and the Lifepak AED ticked all the boxes for them.

The success rate of CPR and early defibrillation is important. Effective CPR and a shock from a defibrillator can make all the difference in a cardiac event. We hope they never have to use them.
